The SP 1.3 Force AXS, one of our top performance triathlon builds, was recently reviewed by Triathlete.com editor and author Jon Dorn. We sent over the SP for summer testing, training, and racing. From getting a lot of miles under his belt, racing in Ironman Boulder 70.3, and pushing the bike to its limits in ascents/descents, this is what Jon had to say about the bike.
Fit Flexibility
"If you can’t adjust this bike to fit your body type, you’ll probably need a custom build, because few, if any, other stock models offer so much range." - Jon Dorn
With a combination of our SAGS (Super Adjustable Gooseneck Stem) and SASP (Super Adjustable Seat Post), we have engineered a triathlon frame design to give you over 140mm of total adjustability, "which ranks with the very best."
"Case in point: Our 6’6” tester is too big for the largest size from some brands, but he was able to set up A2’s standard XL to match his preferred reach and saddle setback measurements without any aftermarket components." - Jon Dorn
Hydration and Storage
"Speaking of water bottles, A2 supplies a bevy of bosses – on the top tube, down tube, and both sides of the seat tube – for attaching cages, Bontrager-compatible hydration, a Bento box, or other storage systems." - Jon Dorn
Accompanied by our adjustability aspects, we also wanted to make this bike have all the mounts and customization accessible features you might need to make your SP the way you want for race day. With mounts in the top, front, middle, and rear, the customization of your SP has endless possibilities.

"Value for your dollar, fit range, and ease of adjustment – these characteristics should count as must-haves on any bike, and A2 delivers exceptionally well on all three. It’s also – if aesthetics matter to you – pleasant to look at, with a simple color palette (lava red, matte black, or matte silver/black) and not much frippery. No blaring logos, no trendy styling that might be outdated before you need to change tires."
A2 Bikes has always been about providing the highest value at the most accessible price in triathlon and road cycling. That is why we are so transparent with how our costs are on average 20% lower than competitors -- it's because we have lower overhead (not spending money on events, color customization, etc), avoiding the middle man with bike shops to avoid percentage markups, and shipping directly to you. We try to keep things simple around here -- prioritize our community and customers first to give you the best product for the least amount out of your pocket.
Conclusions
"We’d also put the SP 1.3 squarely in our consideration set for intermediate and advanced triathletes gunning for PRs and racing often enough to consider $7,273 a good value – but not looking to move into the $10,000-and-above superbike stratosphere." - Jon Dorn
Thank you so much to Jon Dorn and Triathlete.com for taking the time to ride and write this review on the SP 1.3 Force AXS.
